New lecturer position at Sheffield

The Department of Town and Regional Planning at the University of Sheffield is a global leader in planning research and teaching, with ambitious plans for future development. We are widely recognised as a centre of international research excellence, reflected in our high-level performance in successive Research Assessment Exercises. We also have a strong reputation for offering high quality, research-led teaching, as shown in our consistently high ratings in the National Student Survey. We have experienced a period of growth over the past 12-18 months and are looking to add to our strengths in urban design and planning with this appointment.

You will demonstrate potential to achieve international research excellence in urban design and planning complementing the broader interests of the department (which include real estate; housing; international development; local economic development; environmental policy etc.). You will teach urban design and planning at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and supervise doctoral students. A PhD in a relevant subject area (or equivalent experience/qualifications) is essential as is a commitment to teaching innovation and the ability to manage research projects and resources.

The post is available from September 2013.
